News from the Leaven Community Sanctuary Team

Monthly Meeting
Second Tuesdays, 6:30pm-8:30pm
St Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church
1704 NE 43rd Ave, Portland OR

Gather with us as we deepen relationships, learn and collaborate with other IMIrJ communities of faith and our NE Portland K-team partners (St. Andrews Catholic, Bethel Lutheran) to address the issues of justice around immigration in our communities.  All are welcome!

Leaven Community member John Rodgers (B-3rd right) and co-director LaVeta Gilmore Jones (B-center) were present with IMIrJ leaders Ron Werner (Back-L) and Sarah Loose (F-center) at a press conference for five asylum-seeking men who were released from the Federal Correctional Institute in Sheridan, OR. Being with these men only strengthened our resolve to keep pushing with others for the decriminalization of migration and an end to immigrant detention.

This round will continue to facilitate MORE BRAS, with our continuation of stories from other BBB women, MORE BREWS as we enjoy Lucky Lab North Tap Room and MORE BIBLES as we explore sacred texts from many sources.
